Paladin vs Siren Spoiler: Luminous Blast

Posted on: May 23, 2016

I want to start by saying thank you to all our players. We started putting up these spoilers a couple weeks ago and you’ve all been so fantastic. It’s wonderful to see your excitement for a set that we spent so long working on for you. This is certainly why I do what I do. Seeing these cards resonate with all of you has been wonderful! That brings us to last Friday. We wanted to give all of our players a chance to decide the next card spoiled. So, in our forums, I started a poll. It ran for one day, but the card chosen would be the card previewed today. Just the names were put up on the poll, no descriptions. So, you had to vote for the one that sounded like what you most wanted to see. Well it was a close race, but in the end Luminous Blast won out over Naiya, by a single vote. And now you can feast your eyes on one of the Dawnbreaker’s most potent evocations!

Luminous Blast

I’ll give you a moment to let it’s glory sink in. Yes, this is a light attack with 5 dice of damage. Yes, it’s level 1, and yes, it’s ranged 0-0. We wanted the Paladin to have a fairly straightforward light attack spell when we were designing him. But at the same time we didn’t want to just do the same thing we had before. This is an incredibly potent, incredibly short range attack. This represents that light dissipates over distances and is therefore most potent at the point of origin. That’s also why this spell doesn’t have the traditional bonus vs. nonliving creatures. It’s already at the height of it’s potency.  If you want it to become stronger you’ll have to combine it with Malakai’s Basilica or the Paladin’s Solar Aura. As it sits right now this spell gives Holy Mages a very dangerous trick to pull out at point blank range.

I can’t wait to share more Paladin vs. Siren cards with you! There will be at least one more this week!

Also, we just opened preorders for the Priestess Academy set, go check that out in our store or speak to your friendly local gamestore about acquiring one!
