Bryan Pope and the Mage Wars team flew to Columbus, OH to bring the Mage Wars experience to the 2012 Origins Game Fair. With the date change this year, the team was unsure of what to expect. However, we were pleasantly surprised by the interest and intensity of the attendees to “Enter The Arena.”
John Ward and GAMA always run an amazing show, and this year was no different than any other! We had a special treat as Mage Wars playtesters from around the nation got to meet each other face-to-face for the first time, and run demos side-by-side! We also got a chance to show people Mage Wars in two locations this year, both in the Exhibit Hall and in our own private demo area. On Wednesday night, the team had the pleasure of running a demo for the very talented Adrienne Wilkinson, of Xena fame, who was pitted against the amazing Michael Mirth, magician extraordinaire. As one of our top demo-ers, Alan Gerding, taught Adrienne and Michael the gaming system and rules, spectators started gathering and requesting a demo of the game. What started out as a small PR campaign turned into a heavy night of teaching Mage Wars to our fans. In the few hours of play, the team completed nearly 100 demos.
It was an amazing experience and the fun isn’t over yet! Be sure to look for an update on how the rest of the convention went!
